Bishop Paul A. Zipfel
Most Reverend Paul A. Zipfel, D.D., was appointed Bishop of Bismarck on December 31, 1996, by Pope John Paul II. He was ordained March 18, l961; appointed Titular Bishop of Walla Walla and Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis, May 16, 1989; his Episcopal ordination was June 29, 1989; he was installed as Bishop of Bismarck, February 20, 1997.

Deacon Lynn Clancy
Deacon Lynn Clancy grew up on a family farm near Valley City, ND. He attended grade and high school and graduated from St. Catherine Catholic School in Valley City. He has a BS in education from Valley City State University and a Masters in Management degree from the University of Mary, Bismarck, ND. His working career has been in a variety of educational and administrative positions in both the private and public sectors. He retired in 2007 after 20 years of service for one of the ND U.S. Senators. He was ordained a Deacon for the Catholic Church in l981; he serves the Church of Corpus Christi in Bismarck. Lynn is married to Janice Fredricks Clancy; they have two children and four grandchildren.

Reverend Basil Atwell, OSB
Fr. Basil Atwell, OSB is a Benedictine priest and monk of Assumption Abbey in Richardton, North Dakota. "John" Atwell entered the abbey in 1979 and professed his vows in 1981. "Brother Basil" worked many years within the Abbey at various tasks, including the Assumption Abbey Press, the Abbey Pottery, and in the abbey's infirmary. He has a Bachelor's degree in Art from St. John's University, Collegeville, MN. He has served on various boards of directors including "The ARC" (Association of Retarded Citizens--Dickinson), the North Dakota Catholic Conference and Camp ReCreation. Brother Basil received his Masters of Divinity from St. John's School of Theology and Seminary. He was ordained a priest June 28 th, in 2002. Fr. Basil currently serves his abbot and monastic community, his bishop, and the people of the Diocese of Bismarck as pastor of the Churches of St. Mary and St. Elizabeth in New England and Lefor, ND respectively.

Reverend Paul D. Becker
Reverend Paul D. Becker grew up in Bismarck, ND. Father Paul received his education from St. Mary's Grade and High School in Bismarck; Crosier Seminary in Minnesota; and St. Thomas Seminary in Denver, CO. He has a Master of Arts Degree in Theology and a Master of Science in Management from Minot State University. He is currently serving as pastor of Corpus Christi Parish in Bismarck and had previously served as a chaplain at hospitals in Minot as well as pastor of parishes at Foxholm and Berthold, ND.

Deacon Steve Brannan
Deacon Steve Brannan grew up in Minot and graduated from Bishop Ryan High and Minot State College. His advanced degree is from Mary College/Northern State College of Aberdeen. Steve spent 28 years teaching and administrating parochial schools in Devils Lake, Dickinson and Bismarck. He is currently the Superintendent of the Garrison Public School District. For the last four years, he is serving as Deacon and business manager of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Crown Butte, ND. Prior to this assignment, he was assigned as Deacon at Ascension Parish in Bismarck. He loves his work as Deacon serving the people of St.Vincent. He has been married for 35 years to Nancy Perry, has six adult children and seven grandchildren.

Steve Braus
Steve is a Bismarck native who obtained undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Secondary Education from Dickinson State College in 1974. He holds Masters Degrees in Educational Administration from Northern State College and Management from the University of Mary. He is certified as a Fellow in Church Business Administration and as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. Steve has worked in several Bismarck and Mandan parishes since 1975 in Religious Education, Sacramental Preparation, and Administration. He has served on a number of diocesan councils and committees over the years and has served St. Mary's, Bismarck, as its Parish administrator since 1991. Steve's greatest love is the family with which he and his wife Liz have been blest. They have 4 children ages 17-30 and one granddaughtrer. They teach Steve something new each time they gather.

Jeanette Cluett
Jeanette is an enrolled member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, Fort Yates, ND. She is the daughter of George A. Archambault and Rose Ann Wilkie Archambault Bear. She has two brothers and three sisters, two grown children, and 10 grandchildren. She graduated from 8th grade at St. Bernard Catholic Indian Mission in Fort Yates and high school at St. Paul Catholic Indian Mission School in Marty, SD. She attended St. Andrew School of Nursing in Bottineau, ND in 1959. She worked as a staff nurse and transferred to the VA Hospital in Iowa City, IA. She married Francis Cluett in 1962, bringing her back to Fort Yates to work at the I.H.S. Hospital later transferring to McLaughlin Indian Health Clinic as an ambulatory care nurse. She became Director of Nurses at Fort Yates until 1988. Upon returning to college, she worked at McLaughlin I.H.S. until her retirement in 2002. She remains very active in volunteer work in the nursing field, teaching, and the Foster Grandparent Program.

Ms. Stephanie Doolittle
Stephanie was born in Bismarck. As a young girl, she moved to a farm north of Hazelton, ND. She graduated from Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock High School and attended Josef's School of Hair Design in Fargo. In l986, she married Bruce Doolittle. Bruce and Stephanie live on a 3rd generation grain farm 10 miles SE of Hazelton. They have 2 children, Devin 16 and Dillon 13. Stephanie is a stay-at-home mom and enjoys volunteering her extra time to her church, community, and school.

Jim FritzHuspen
Jim is originally from Iowa and moved to Mandan in l980. He has a BS in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University. He earned his MA in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville. Jim has worked at Spirit of Life parish since 1987, working in the area of junior and senior high youth ministry, confirmation preparation, RCIA, adult education, and baptism preparation. He is currently serving as business administrator of the parish. Jim has four children ranging in age from 15-24.

Cheryle Gagner
Cheryle is a native of Grafton, ND, the fifth of six children. Her family moved to Bismarck in 1969. She graduated from Bismarck High School and attended Dickinson State for two years. She has worked with Church of Ascension's Religious Education program for l5 years and has served at Director of Religious Education for the past 8 years. She is certified through the diocese as a director of Faith Formation and is a past member of the school board at St. Mary's Grade School. Before working at Ascension she was a stay-at-home mom and earned certifications in cake decorating and phlebotomy. Cheryle is married to Joseph Gagner; they have two children and two grandchildren.

Reverend John G. Guthrie
Reverend John G. Guthrie was born in Bismarck and raised in the parish of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. He attended Cathedral Grade School and St. Mary's High School. After four years at St. John's University in Collegeville, MN, he worked in Washington for Congressman Dorgan. He was then accepted as a seminarian for the Diocese of Bismarck. After five years of formation at the North American College in Rome, he was ordained to the priesthood on July 2, 1990. He has served as Associate Pastor at Cathedral (l990-93), pastor of St. Bernard Parish with its missions in Medora and South Heart (1993-1999), and pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Williston and St. John Parish in Trenton (1999-2008). He is currently pastor of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck and Vicar General for the Diocese of Bismarck.

Alice Heger
Alice was born on a farm southwest of Underwood, ND. She attended a one-room country school for the first 5 years of schooling and attended Underwood High School for 6 years.
She married Harold Chase, Jr. her senior year. They had four children and lived in New York for eleven years. They divorced and Alice returned to North Dakota to work for 18 years at the Falkirk Mine. She became involved in the church in 1985, teaching CCD and becoming a Youth Minister. She learned much about her Church through workshops, retreats, and home study, which contributed much to life experience. Alice spent four years as a Missionary in Kenya for the Diocese of Bismarck. She served on the Diocese Pastoral Council under Bishop Kinney. Alice continues to serve as a volunteer and is deeply drawn to the needy and oppressed people. She is serving as DRE for her parish of St. Bonaventure in Underwood as well as Eucharistic Minister. Alice has ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Sr. Paula Larson, OSB
Sr. Paula Larson is a Benedictine Sister of Sacred Heart Monastery, Richardton, ND. She grew up on a farm and ranch in eastern Montana. She has a MA degree in psychiatric/mental health nursing and a MA degree in Christian Spirituality with a certificate in spiritual direction and retreat ministry. Her working career has been in counseling, leadership of her religious community, fundraising, organizational realignments and master planning. Presently, she is the administrative assistant to the Prioress and Executive Director of the Sacred Heart Benedictine Foundation.

Sr. Nancy Miller, OSB
Sr. Nancy was born and raised in Harvey, ND, being the fifth of eight children. She attended grade school and graduated from Harvey High School. She earned a BS degree in Business Administration and a Masters in Management degree at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. In 1990, Nancy entered the community of Benedictine Sisters at Annunciation Monastery in Bismarck as a novice. She professed her final vows in August of l995. Her ministry has included positions at Annunciation Monastery and the University of Mary. Most recently, Sr. Nancy has served as the University's Director of Campus Ministry. During May of this year, she resumed her position as Administrative Assistant at Annunciation Monastery this now being her full time ministry. Sr. Nancy enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, playing racquetball, spending time with family and being part of a monastic community.

Deacon Steve Streitz
Deacon Steve Streitz grew up on a family farm near Foxholm, ND and attended St. Mary's Parish. His education through fifth grade was in Foxholm. He continued his education in Carpio, ND, where he graduated from high school in 1970. He graduated from NDSU in Fargo, ND in 1974, earning a BA degree in sociology with emphasis in social work and a minor in philosophy. He worked for Bremer Bank in Minot, ND for 27 years, where he was a Vice President - Trust Officer. In January, 2008, he was hired as Parish Administrator at Our Lady of Grace Church in Minot. He was ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Bismarck by Bishop Paul Zipfel in 1987 and was appointed to Our Lady of Grace Church. Steve is married to Paulette Marie Streitz; they have four children and three grandchildren.

Kathy Tweeten
Kathy grew up on a small livestock and grain farm north of Warwick, ND. She graduated from Warwick High School. She received both her BS and MBA degrees from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. She has spent 22 years in NDSU Extension Service plus three years in Nebraska Extension. Her current position is Director of NDSU Extension Center for Community Vitality and Extension Specialist in Community Economic Development. She resides in Bismarck with her husband, Howard Tweeten; they have two daughters, Kacey and Haley.

Reverend Austin Vetter
Reverend Austin Vetter received his theological training at the Pontifical North American College in Rome and has a Bachelor of Sacred Theology [STB] from the Angelicum at the Dominican Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas. Fr. Austin was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Bismarck in 1993. He has served at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, St. Martin Parish in Center, St. Patrick's Parish in Dickinson and has taught for five years at St. Mary's Central High School in Bismarck. He has been the Vicar for Deacons and Master of Ceremony for the Diocese of Bismarck. He is currently serving as Pastor at Church of St. Leo in Minot.

Kristen Vetter
Kristen E. Vetter grew up in Steele, ND graduating from Steele-Dawson High School. Although growing up in Steele filled the majority of her k-12 education, Kristen also attended two years of parochial education in Rugby, ND at Little Flower Catholic School under the direction of the Franciscan nuns out of Hankinson. After graduating high school Kristen received a BS in music education from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. Kristen currently lives on a 4th generation farm in South Central North Dakota with her husband Andrew. She is employed with NDSU Extension for Emmons County as a 4H youth development agent working with youth and adult leadership skills. Kristen has an interest in serving her community in whatever way it calls and is proud to serve on the pastoral planning committee for the Bismarck Diocese.

Bill Wocken
Bill was born and raised in St. Cloud, MN. He attended Catholic grade and high schools there and graduated with a BA degree in Sociology with a minor in Greek from St. John's University in Collegeville, MN in 1972. Bill worked in the grocery business while attending school. Several months after graduating from college he married Mary Jo Zentner in 1972. They have two daughters and four grandsons. Bill's work career has been almost entirely spent with the City of Bismarck; 17 years as City-County Planning Director, and 14 years as City Administrator. Bill and Mary Jo presently belong to Cathedral Parish and frequently attend services at Corpus Christi Church. They assist with the pre-marriage couple-to-couple counseling program at Cathedral.
