 The Chancery provides administrative and clerical assistance for the bishop. It provides for diocesan records and reports, coordinates personnel policies, facilitates diocesan ministries and services, responds to requests from pastors, people of the diocese, national and international church bodies and the general public.
The chancellor, in consultation with the bishop and appropriate office directors, coordinates the hiring of staff for the various diocesan offices, chairs the Personnel Advisory Committee, and arranges for appropriate in-service and workshop opportunities for employees. The chancellor also has overall caononical responsibility for the diocesan archives.
This office preserves and makes available sources documenting the history of the people comprising our faith community in western North Dakota; cares for historical and other permanent records and publications of the diocese; maintains a records management program for diocesan offices, parishes and schools, as well as providing research and references services for parishes and individuals.
The vicar general provides assistance to the bishop in the total governance of the diocese, and represents the bishop when he is unable to be present and to fulfill other duties as directed by him.
